Choir Newsletter - September 2015!

1) Our debut album - Music Matters: Celebrating 140 Characters - is now available on iTunes, Google Play, Spotify and Amazon Music

2)  The Summer break is almost over which means we are back to our FULL rehearsal schedule and have some exciting NEW projects lined up! 

Our Inclusive Community Choirs return to rehearsals the week starting Monday 7th September:

3) The Memory Lane choir for older people, particularly those affected by dementia or memory loss, resumes rehearsals on Wednesday 9th September. Family members, friends, neighbours and carers of those with dementia or memory loss also welcome. 

This choir takes place on Wednesdays (11.00 AM - 12.30 PM) at St Agnes' Community Centre for Music & Arts in Crumlin and is supported by Dublin City Council - Crumlin Area Office.  


There are also a number of places available in the two Musical Memories choirs (Deansgrange - Thursdays 11.00 AM - 12.30 PM and Stillorgan - Saturdays 11.00 AM - 12.30 PM) 
These choirs were established by Dun Laoghaire Rathdown Arts & Health Promotion, the HSE and Living Well with Dementia - Stillorgan/Blackrock and are now run in partnership with Music Matters

4) Our newer choirs include:  
  • Inclusive Youth Choir at The Grainstore, Cabinteely (starting Thursday 10th September)

  • Singing Amach Choir - for ALL women (including those who identify as LGBTQ, along with their friends, families, partners & allies of ALL ages. This choir is run in partnership with Running Amach and Outhouse

  • Transgender Community Choir - This choir aims to be inclusive of anyone who identifies as Trans*, Gender-fluid, non-binary and is believed to be the first of its kind in Europe. We hope to run rehearsals in September/ October - please contact info@musicmatters.ie for more info 
This choir is supported by TENI and Mel Duffy and Breege Casey from the School of Nursing & Human Sciences, DCU 


5) Sabrina, one of our amazing volunteers, will cycle 100 Km during the Great Dublin Bike Ride to raise much needed funds for Music Matters. The Great Dublin Bike Ride takes place on Sunday 13th September 2015. We can give details for bank transfer, PayPal, cheque, cash....show your support for cycling Sabrina!  

Regular updates will be posted on the "Sponsor Sabrina's 100 Km Cycle for Music Matters" Facebook page.  All monies raised will go directly to the costs of running Music Matters' inclusive community choirs. Thank you Sabrina!  
6) "Every Little Helps" - Tesco Parnell St supports Music Matters! 
Music Matters is very excited to announce that we were presented with a cheque worth €373.49 from Tesco, Parnell St, Dublin 1 
Elaine had nominated our MACRO Community Resource Centre Choir and Work Options choir for the Tesco Community Fund

To Celebrate the Festival of Social Inclusion and the 50th Anniversary of "The Sound of Music", come join us for a fantastic FREE fun event for ALL the family!
